Christian Lequesne is a Full Professor at Sciences Po Paris, specializing in political science with a focus on European Union studies, diplomacy, and foreign policy. He has held leadership roles at the Centre d'Études et de Recherches Internationales (CERI) as deputy director (2000–2003) and director (2009–2013), and led the Centre français de recherche en sciences sociales (CEFRES) in Prague (2004–2006). He is a co-founder and co-chief editor of the European Review of International Studies and serves on advisory boards for journals like The Hague Journal of Diplomacy.

His research explores the European Union as an external actor, diplomatic practices, public diplomacy, and the impact of populist movements on EU governance. He has authored seminal works on French diplomacy, Brexit, and the institutional dynamics of ministries of foreign affairs globally.
