Dr. Matley's research centers on health behavior modification across three critical domains: alcohol reduction, smoking cessation, and healthy ageing. She specializes in designing evidence-based interventions for adults in mid and later life, employing mixed-methods approaches including patient public involvement (PPI), systematic reviews, and both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Her work emphasizes practical applications for enhancing wellbeing through behavioral change.
Analysis of her 2017-2025 publications reveals a consistent trajectory toward population-specific interventions, particularly targeting mid-life women and cancer survivors. Her methodological signature combines Delphi studies with causal mediation analysis to dissect social determinants of health behavior, with increasing focus on participatory research design and PPI integration since 2020.
