Dr Fiona Leigh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at University College London (UCL). She specializes in ancient philosophy, particularly Plato's dialogues and their metaphysical frameworks. Her research focuses on Plato's later works like the Sophist, exploring concepts of being, forms, and dialectical methods. Leigh holds a PhD from Monash University and has held academic positions at King's College London and UCL since 2009.
Her work bridges Plato, Aristotle, and Hellenistic philosophies, evidenced by edited volumes like Psycho logy and Value in Plato, Aristotle, and Hellenistic Philosophy (2022). Her current monograph project reinterprets the Sophist comprehensively. Her publications span ontology, dialectic, and ethical themes, with recent trends emphasizing comparative ancient philosophy and methodological analysis of Platonic dialogues.
Leigh’s academic contributions include co-editing the Keeling Lectures series and pioneering studies on self-knowledge in antiquity. She has received no explicitly listed awards but maintains an active editorial role in ancient philosophy scholarship. Her research integrates historical exegesis with contemporary philosophical rigor, often addressing conceptual tensions between ancient thinkers.
