Lee Franklin is a Professor of Philosophy at Franklin & Marshall College, serving as Interim Director of the Faculty Center. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from The Ohio State University (2001) and a B.A. in Philosophy (Magna Cum Laude) from Yale University (1995). His research focuses on Plato's philosophical method, dialectic, and metaphysics, particularly on investigation from hypothesis as explored in Plato's Meno, Phaedo, and Republic.
Franklin has received notable recognition including the NEH Summer Research Stipend nomination (2006, 2007) and teaching awards from SUNY (2005) and The University at Albany (2005). His publications analyze Platonic dialogues such as Meno, Phaedo, and Gorgias, emphasizing themes like recollection theory, dialectical methods, and metaphysical inquiry.
He teaches courses on Ancient Greek Philosophy, Medieval Philosophy, and specialized seminars on Plato and Aristotle. His work bridges historical philosophical analysis with contemporary philosophical discourse, contributing to debates on Socratic methods and Platonic metaphysics.
