Fiona Hagenbeek is a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Biological Psychology and the Netherlands Twin Register (NTR) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM), University of Helsinki. Her work focuses on gene-environment interactions, metabolomics, and aggression in children. She holds a PhD and completed her first postdoc at VU Amsterdam. Her research includes developing protocols for biological sample collection in children, contributing to multi-omic studies of aggression, and investigating genetic and environmental influences on metabolite levels. She also contributed to the CD² project, developing FAIR infrastructure for youth cohort data.
Research Interests: Fiona’s work spans metabolomics, epigenetics, and behavioral genetics, with a focus on childhood aggression and socio-economic health disparities. She employs multi-omic approaches to explore biomarkers and integrates twin studies to disentangle genetic and environmental factors.
Publications: Her recent articles highlight multi-omic analyses of aggression, heritability of metabolites, and the role of twin studies in omics research. These studies underscore her expertise in integrating genetic, epigenetic, and metabolomic data to address complex health behaviors.
Awards: No specific awards listed.
Advising & Grants: While no formal advisees are listed, she contributed to the EU-funded ACTION project and collaborates widely in multi-institutional efforts. Her work involves datasets from the Netherlands Twin Register and FIMM.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Netherlands Twin Register (NTR) and Group Ripatti at FIMM, contributing to interdisciplinary teams focused on omics and behavioral health.
