Fiona Greenland

Fiona Greenland is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on Art/Science Studies, Art Markets, and Cultural Sociology, with a strong emphasis on Historical Methods and Social Theory. She investigates intersections of cultural production, power dynamics, and materiality, particularly through case studies involving art crime, antiquities trafficking, and conflict zones.

Her work explores how cultural objects mediate social relations, including studies of the ISIS antiquities trade, Italian cultural policy, and the ethics of satellite imagery in conflict research.
