Fiona Elsted is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department at Essex Pathways, University of Essex. She is based at the Colchester Campus and holds academic support hours on Mondays and Thursdays. Her research focuses on teacher training, professional development, and transitions from General English to EAP contexts. She holds a MATESOL (Distinction) from the University of Essex, a BA(Hons) in History from the University of Kent, and advanced teaching qualifications from Cambridge/RSA (CTEFLA and DTEFLA).
Her research interests include teacher reflection, academic locus of control, and self-efficacy in undergraduate academic writing. Key projects include investigations into supporting educators transitioning to EAP and the impact of locus of control on writing confidence. She has presented at conferences such as the Foundation Year Network and BALEAP.
Elsted currently teaches 'Introduction to Legal Theory (IA120)' and has supervised at least one thesis dissertation. She maintains active engagement with professional networks and pedagogical innovation in higher education.
