Fiona Barchard

Fiona Barchard is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the University of Northampton within the Faculty of Health, Education and Society. With a nursing background since 1990, she specializes in acute/critical care, patient deterioration, leadership, and service improvement.

• Teaches pre-registration and post-registration nursing (Levels 4–7)
• Research focus: Courage in nursing practice (grounded theory approach)
• Key contributions to studies on ethical care and patient safety

Her work explores intersections between clinical ethics, nursing values, and professional resilience.
