Filipa Barros

Filipa Barros is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences of the Catholic University of Portugal. She is also an integrated member of the Católica Research Center for Psychological, Family and Social Wellbeing (CRC-W) and a collaborator member of the William James Center for Research, specifically with the Social Cognition and Body Odors Team.

Her research focuses on social cognition processes, emotional processing, and visual/olfactory processing in both the general population and individuals on the autism spectrum. She employs multidisciplinary approaches combining psychological assessment, physiological measurements, and innovative technologies like bio-radar systems for emotion recognition.

Analysis of her publication record reveals a strong trajectory in understanding the relationship between autism traits, anxiety, and sensory processing, particularly olfaction. Her work increasingly incorporates technological innovations for emotion recognition, showing an interdisciplinary approach that bridges psychology, neuroscience, and biomedical engineering.

Barros maintains active clinical practice as a member of the Order of Portuguese Psychologists since 2017, working as a clinical psychologist in private practice.
