Fikri Karaesmen is a Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Koc University. His research focuses on stochastic modeling and operations research, particularly in production, inventory, and service systems. He has published extensively on topics like machine learning integration in inventory control, financial hedging strategies, and strategic customer behavior in service systems.
- PhD, Northeastern University (1996)
- MSc, Northeastern University (1992)
- BS, Middle East Technical University (1990)
His work combines mathematical modeling with data-driven approaches, addressing challenges in semiconductor production planning, dynamic pricing under uncertainty, and risk management in inventory systems. Recent publications emphasize machine learning applications in production control and pricing policies for heterogeneous quality products.
Selected awards include the TÜBİTAK Incentive Award (2009) and the TÜBA Outstanding Young Scientists Award (2007). His research has appeared in top journals like IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering and explores intersections between operations management and financial engineering.
