Fidelia Lam is an Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track in the Department of Digital Futures at the Faculty of Arts & Science, OCAD University, Tkaronto, Canada, with additional affiliation as a Visiting Scholar at the Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Kong Library, University of Toronto.
Education:
- PhD in Cinematic Arts, Media Arts + Practice from the University of Southern California
- MA in Media Arts, Performing Arts Technology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
Research Interests: Lam's work critically examines embodied cognition within Asian/American diasporic contexts through media art and computational approaches. Their practice investigates materiality (particularly bio-plastics), recursive media systems, infrastructural politics, and knowledge production at the intersection of technology and cultural identity. As a media artist-researcher, they navigate slipstreams between creative practice and theoretical inquiry.
Professional Activities: Lam has exhibited internationally at Human Resources Los Angeles, Geidai Games Online (Tokyo University of the Arts), Architecture, Media, Politics, Society (London), TongLau Space (Hong Kong), American Studies Association (Montreal), ISEA (Barcelona), Arts for the Society of the Present (Los Angeles), and Flow34 @ IAMCR (Nairobi).
