Fernando Altamura is a Faculty Lecturer at McGill University's Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, where he serves as Director of the Freshman Program and Academic Advisor. He joined the university in 2020.

Dr. Altamura's research focuses on target-based drug discovery for infectious diseases and modulation of host-microbiota interactions as therapeutic strategies. He also specializes in innovation in STEM teaching, with particular emphasis on mathematics and science communication. His interdisciplinary background combines expertise in life sciences, pharmacology, and therapeutics of infectious diseases with a strong foundation in classical music.

As an educator, Dr. Altamura teaches a variety of courses including Calculus 1 with Precalculus, Calculus 2, Precalculus Lab, Intermediate Calculus, General Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Cell Biology, and courses on Eukaryotic Cells and Viruses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His teaching approach integrates his multidisciplinary background to enhance student learning experiences in STEM fields.
