Fernanda Odilla

Dr Fernanda Odilla is a Research Fellow at the University of Bologna and a Research Affiliate at the Brazil Institute, King's College London. Her work focuses on anti-corruption initiatives and accountability mechanisms in the Global South, particularly leveraging digital media and emerging technologies.

Odilla’s research explores both top-down and bottom-up strategies to combat corruption, with a current emphasis on algorithmic and AI-driven grassroots activism. She contributes to the King’s Global (Anti)Corruption Studies (GACS) research group and investigates ERC-funded projects at Bologna.

Her prior career in investigative journalism, including roles at the BBC’s Brazilian desk and Brazilian daily newspapers, informs her practical approach to exposing political corruption and systemic governance challenges. She actively examines Brazil’s democratic transition, transitional justice, and SDG-aligned frameworks for institutional integrity.
