Felipe Tirado is a PhD Candidate at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London, funded by the King’s Centre for Doctoral Studies. He concurrently serves as a Visiting Lecturer in Jurisprudence and an Academic Skills Tutor at King's Academy. His affiliations include the King's Brazil Institute (Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy), the Center for Studies on Transitional Justice (UFMG), and the Human Rights Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association in Minas Gerais. He previously worked with the Minas Gerais Truth Commission and law firms in Brazil/UK.
Education: LLM from King's College London and MPhil in Law from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Research focuses on anti-corruption mechanisms, judicial independence, and legal cultures through analysis of Brazil's Operation Car Wash. Methodologies include doctrinal research, archival analysis, and elite interviews with Brazilian federal judges/prosecutors.
Research interests span corruption, transitional justice, crimes against humanity, Latin American legal systems, and human rights accountability. He has contributed op-eds on Brazilian democracy and Lula's presidency challenges, and participated in multilingual literature events.
Supervised by Professors David Nelken (Principal) and Octavio Ferraz. Associated with King’s Brazil Institute’s interdisciplinary projects on Latin American governance and transitional justice.
