Felix Woelk

Felix Woelk is a Professor for Agile Development Methodologies & Human-Machine Interaction at the University of Applied Sciences Kiel and has served as Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering since 2022. He co-manages the Media Engineering program with Stefanie Reich. Previously, he held industry positions including Project Manager & Director PLC Development at Yxlon International GmbH (2010-2016) and Founder/CTO at Vision N GmbH (2007-2010).

Education

• Doctoral Thesis in Computer Science: "Visual Detection of Independently Moving Objects by a Moving Monocular Observer" (Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel, 2001-2008)
• Diploma in Physics: "Signal Detection in noisy Markov-Processes" (Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel, 1995-2000)

Research Focus

His work centers on extended reality (XR/AR/VR/MR) applications in medicine and mechanical engineering, human-computer interaction paradigms, and 3D reconstruction from visual data. He leads initiatives to integrate immersive technologies into industrial and educational contexts.
