Dr. Felix Wiedemann is an Associate Professor and researcher at the Department of History at Free University of Berlin. He earned his Ph.D. in 2006 and completed his Habilitation (post-doctoral qualification) in 2018, both from Free University of Berlin.
His research spans critical historical domains including:
- History of modern anti-Semitism and racism
- Migration history as foundational to human development
- History of science and historiographical theory
- European orientalism and its cultural impacts
- Right-wing extremism and new religious movements
Wiedemann is the author of two major publications: Am Anfang war Migration (In the Beginning There Was Migration, 2020) exploring migration as a historical constant, and Rassenmutter und Rebellin (Race Mother and Rebel, 2007) examining racial identity narratives. His scholarly work intersects historical analysis with contemporary social issues, particularly through studies of textual traditions and cultural memory.
Notable among his publications is the article "Did the Discovery of Hammurabi's Laws Undermine the Torah?" which critically examines Friedrich Delitzsch's 1902 Babel und Bibel lecture series and the academic controversy surrounding Babylonian influences on biblical texts following the discovery of the Hammurabi Stele.
His academic contributions position him at the intersection of historical scholarship, religious studies, and critical theory, with particular relevance to understanding modern identity politics through historical lenses.
