Felix Kawitzky is a queer, trans game designer and Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of York's School of Arts and Creative Technologies. His work focuses on collaborative play, queer utopian methodologies, and the intersection of storytelling with speculative genres. He holds a PhD in Creative Practice from York, alongside a BA in Fine Art and MA in Theatre Making from the University of Cape Town.
Research explores anti-hierarchical narrative strategies using tabletop RPGs (TRPGs) as tools for resistance. Key projects include the game Otherwards, which enables players to co-create queer alternate dimensions. His 2021 article in Performance Research examines TRPGs as utopian frameworks.
External engagements include workshops at institutions like the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and collaborative projects like Teen Witch Tactics, a queer-inspired computer game. His creative practice spans illustration, performance, and text-based games, emphasizing anti-capitalist, body-positive approaches to community-building.
