Kate Pickett OBE is Professor of Epidemiology at the University of York and Director of the Born in Bradford Center for Social Change. Her research investigates socioeconomic determinants of health, focusing on child wellbeing, income inequality, and mental health. She co-authored the bestselling books The Spirit Level and The Inner Level, which analyze societal impacts of inequality.
Current projects include the Born in Bradford cohort study, examining multigenerational health influences, and Fair Food Futures, exploring community food systems. Her publications demonstrate methodological innovations in linking economic policies to health outcomes.
Honors include an OBE for services to societal equality, and fellowships from the RSA and Academy of Social Sciences. Dr. Pickett advises UK policymakers on child poverty and chairs the Child of the North APPG.
