Felix Adah is a Professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMC), where he serves in the Department of Physical Therapy within the School of Health Related Professions. He holds certifications in Dry Needling and Spinal Manipulative Therapy. Adah has been a faculty member since 1999, progressing from Assistant Professor (1999–2004) to Associate Professor (2004–2009) before attaining his current rank in 2009. His research focuses on laser therapy, tissue healing, and rehabilitation modalities, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications.
Education includes a PhD in Clinical Health Sciences (2004) from UMC, an MS in Human Nutrition (1984) from the University of Ibadan (Nigeria), and a BS in Medical Rehabilitation (Physical Therapy) (1981) from the University of Ife (Nigeria). Prior to UMC, he directed rehabilitation at Beverly Enterprise for the elderly (1994–1999).
Adah’s teaching spans manual therapy, clinical decision-making, and research methodology. He actively supervises student research and serves on dissertation committees. His awards include recognition from the American Heart Association (2007, 2014). Community contributions include leadership roles in fundraising and clinical service at the Jackson Free Clinic.
His research trends emphasize electrotherapy, musculoskeletal interventions, and translational studies in fracture healing and neurorehabilitation. Recent work explores transcranial direct current stimulation for dual-task deficits in older adults and non-invasive migraine prevention.
Awards: Top American Association Fund Raiser/Walker (2007, 2014).
Grants/Service: Directed a SHRP Faculty Development Award (2013–2014) studying laser and chemotherapeutic agents on osteosarcoma. Serves on academic committees for research affairs and multicultural initiatives.
