Dr Felicity Y. Han is a Research Fellow and Pain Relief Innovation Leader at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), The University of Queensland (UQ). She is affiliated with the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and the Centre for Innovation in Pain and Health Research (CIPHeR), while also serving as an Adjunct Senior Fellow at AIBN. Her research bridges pharmacology, drug delivery systems, and nanomedicine.
Dr Han specializes in nano-based drug formulation for chronic pain management, with expertise in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and GLP/ISO17025-accredited research. Her lab develops biodegradable pain-relief sutures, C5a-targeting nanoparticles for cancer pain, and platforms for peptide drug delivery. She explores the role of complement pathways (C5a/C3a), estrogen, and innate immunity in pain pathogenesis using rodent models.
Her recent publications focus on pH-sensitive nanoparticles for colitis, glycol chitosan-coated PLGA for oral insulin delivery, and complement antagonists in diabetes complications. Dr Han has received the Ian Potter Foundation Travel Grant and collaborates with international experts in preclinical evaluation. She supervises PhD projects on diabetes management, HIV therapeutics, and chronic pain mechanisms.
Scientific Awards:
- Ian Potter Foundation Travel Grant
Supervision: Actively mentoring postgraduates in chronic pain, diabetes, and HIV treatment projects. Current lab projects include synthetic joint lubricants, multifunctional nanosutures, and complement pathway analysis in neuropathic pain.
