Susan Holden is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Queensland (UQ), affiliated with the ATCH Research Centre (Architecture, Theory, Culture, History). She holds a PhD and Bachelor’s degree from UQ. Her research focuses on architectural history, design governance, heritage sustainability, and the intersection of architecture with art and policy. She has led major projects like the ARC-funded 'Is Architecture Art?' and 'Campus: Building Modern Australian Universities,' producing influential books and publications. Holden’s work emphasizes cross-disciplinary collaboration, with partnerships at Ghent University and contributions to national/international forums. She serves on the AIA National Gender Equity Committee and has held leadership roles at UQ, including Chair of Research and Chair of Teaching and Learning. Her awards include the UQ Promoting Women Fellowship (2019) and QIA Medallion (2000). Holden maintains industry ties as a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects, contributing to urban design, residential, and public architecture awards.
