Felicity Small is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Charles Sturt University's School of Business, where she has been teaching since 2004. She holds a PhD, Bachelor of Business (Honors), Diploma in Education (Secondary), and Bachelor of Arts. Her academic career follows professional experience with a Global Trading company selling Australian products into Russia and Asia, along with teaching positions in Japan and the United Kingdom.
Her research focuses on consumer behaviour, marketing communications, social marketing, and environmental sustainability. She has developed significant expertise in soil stewardship, pollinator conservation, and community engagement through garden projects. Her work also extends to disability studies, accessibility research, and mental health initiatives, particularly through her involvement with the Equally Well campaign which addresses the physical health disparities faced by people with mental illness.
Dr. Small's recent publications demonstrate a clear trend toward interdisciplinary research that bridges environmental science, marketing, and social impact. Her work increasingly focuses on practical applications of marketing principles to address societal challenges including soil conservation, pollinator habitat restoration, and disability accessibility. The geographic scope of her research spans regional Australia with growing international dimensions, particularly in sustainable tourism development in developing nations.

Dr. Small has secured multiple research grants including a Soil CRC grant ($47,000+ initial scoping, $400,000+ for 18 months), CSU Green grant ($9,265), CenWest Business Development Grant ($15,000), and NDIS Project Transformation Consumer Research Grant ($8,000). Her teaching portfolio includes undergraduate courses MKT110 Marketing and Society and MKT303 Social and Environmental Marketing, plus postgraduate courses MKT501 Marketing Management and MKT525 Digital and Social Media Marketing. She actively incorporates real-world community engagement into her pedagogy.
She is an active member of Charles Sturt University's research ecosystem including the Health Services Research Group, Business Marketing Research Group, Regional Entrepreneurship Research Group, Regional Work and Organisational Resilience Sturt Group, and Gulbali Research Institute. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for Glenray Industries (Not-for-Profit) and leads the Equally Well website initiative focused on improving physical health outcomes for people with mental illness.
