Felicity Jensz is an Associate Professor at the University of Münster, affiliated with the Cluster of Excellence 'Religion and Politics in Modern and Pre-Modern Cultures'. She holds a Venia legendi in Modern and Contemporary History, specializing in 19th-century colonial and missionary history. Her research focuses on transregional entanglements, missionary education, and colonial memory, with particular attention to German and British colonial contexts. Jensz has held academic positions globally, including at Flinders University and the University of York, and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
Her academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Melbourne (2007) and a Habilitation at Münster (2017). She teaches courses on colonial history, public history, and gender studies, and leads projects such as 'GloBib' on colonial Bible translations and 'A3-2', exploring religious entanglements between Germany and its former colonies.
Jensz’s research spans missionary archives, ethnographic collections, and the cultural impact of colonialism. She has published extensively on topics like Moravian missionaries in Australia, 19th-century mission schools, and postcolonial memory. Her work bridges historical analysis with public engagement, including exhibitions on colonial traces in Münster.
Her grants include the DFG and LWL-KulturStiftung, and she mentors doctoral students in colonial and transnational history. Awards highlight her contributions to religious and imperial history, including the Bristol Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professorship (2024) and Docent title at the University of Helsinki (2021).
