Dr. Felicity Connolly is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in General Practice at Lancaster University Medical School, part of Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine. As Co-Director of Primary Care Academic Teaching, she leads the primary care core theme in the Medicine MBChB curriculum, overseeing its development, delivery, and quality assurance across all five undergraduate years. She also serves as Clinical Lead for Education for Sustainable Healthcare (ESH) and Planetary Health, integrating ESH into healthcare curricula to address climate and environmental impacts on health. Her roles include national leadership through the UK GP Head of Teachers Group and global engagement via the European Network of Climate and Health Education (ENCHE).
Her research interests focus on sustainable healthcare, primary care education, social determinants of health, and addressing health inequalities exacerbated by climate change. She contributes to initiatives like the UK National Curriculum for Sustainable Healthcare and collaborates internationally, including at COP27 and AMEE 24. Her clinical experience spans diverse settings, from inner-city to rural UK practices, with a focus on areas of deprivation.
Dr. Connolly advocates for strengthening primary care to advance universal health coverage, as outlined in the UN’s Declaration of Astana 2018 and SDG 3. She currently practices as a GP in South Cumbria, UK.
