Dr Emma Parry is a GP Researcher and Academic Clinical Lecturer affiliated with Keele University's School of Medicine in the Primary Care department. She holds roles as an RCGP Clinical Advisor, a member of the BJGP Open editorial board, and was previously the Honorary Secretary of the RCGP Midland Faculty. Her academic journey includes a MBChB and BMedSc from the University of Birmingham (2008), followed by NIHR-funded fellowships and a PhD on 'Acute flares in knee osteoarthritis' completed in 2020.
Her research focuses on musculoskeletal health, osteoarthritis flares, social determinants of health, and urgent care. Notable projects include the MIDAS and CHIPP studies, and she leads a musculoskeletal database initiative in the Black Country. She also investigates healthcare inequities and the integration of social determinants into clinical records.
Recent publications highlight her work on osteoarthritis flares, digital risk stratification in end-of-life care, and social needs screening in primary care. Awards include the NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship and SPCR GP Progression Fellowship.
Teaching roles include supervising a PhD student on health inequality projects and delivering public health modules. She mentors GP trainees in academic placements and contributes to national guidelines via NICE OA committee membership.
