Dr. Felicia McBride is Assistant Professor of Physics at Bowdoin College, specializing in multimessenger astrophysics. She holds a Ph.D. from Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg and completed postdoctoral research at University of Amsterdam and Penn State.
Her research investigates:
- Supermassive black holes and relativistic jets
- Connections between IceCube neutrinos and active galaxies
- High-energy processes in blazars
- Multiwavelength characterization of active galactic nuclei
McBride has published in Nature Physics, ApJ, and MNRAS, including studies of the neutrino-blazar coincidence event IC-170922A. Recent work examines variable X-ray spectra of active galactic nuclei and the multimessenger signatures of cosmic accelerators.
She teaches Introductory Physics and developed 'The Physics of Black Holes' course, emphasizing accessible pedagogy.
