Federico Giusfredi is an Associate Professor at the University of Verona's Department of Cultures and Civilizations. His research focuses on the philology, history, and languages of the pre-classical Near East, with specializations in Anatolian philology and the history of ancient Syro-Mesopotamian and Anatolian civilizations. He is affiliated with research projects such as the PRIN 2022 initiative on Hittite Anatolian plurilingualism and the PALaC project studying linguistic and cultural contacts in the Ancient Near East.
He teaches modules including Ancient Anatolian Linguistics and Philology, History of the Ancient Near East, and Languages and Scripts of the Ancient Near East across undergraduate and graduate programs. His academic service roles include membership in the Faculty Board of the Archaeology, Art History, and History PhD program and various departmental committees focusing on internationalization and third mission activities.
Key research projects include the ongoing PALaC initiative (2018–present) and the SLUW project on Luwian language syntax. His work emphasizes document analysis from cuneiform, hieroglyphic, and Semitic sources, contributing to understanding socio-political institutions and cultural transmission in the ancient Mediterranean.
