Fatuma Emmad

Fatuma Emmad is a Lecturer in the Masters of the Environment Graduate Program at the University of Colorado Boulder and an affiliate professor at Regis University. She is also the co-founder and executive director of Front Line Farming, a sustainable agriculture initiative, and owner of Bountiful By Design, a sustainable landscape company.

• 2020 Rocky Mountain Farmers Union Fellow

Her research and advocacy focus on reframing food security through community-led agricultural practices, resistance to corporate monoculture solutions, and sustainable land stewardship. She combines ecological design, social justice frameworks, and policy analysis to address systemic inequities in food systems.

Fatuma has received recognition for her community engagement work, including:

• Kathy Underhill Inaugural Scholarship for advocacy in health equity and food systems
• Fellowship at Transformational Leaders for Change (promoting leaders of color in Colorado)
• Election as president of Mile High Farmers in 2020
