معرفی
Fatma Scerif serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Bone and Joint Health within the Blizard Institute, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London. A molecular biologist by training, she returned to active research following a six-year career hiatus through the prestigious Daphne Jackson Fellowship funded by the Medical Research Council and Kennedy Trust.
Her scientific focus centers on leveraging Agrin to stimulate cartilage formation for treating obesity-induced osteoarthritis, operating at the intersection of molecular biology, regenerative medicine, and musculoskeletal therapeutics. This work addresses a significant clinical challenge in orthopedics where current treatments primarily manage symptoms rather than modifying disease progression.
Scientific Recognition:
- Daphne Jackson Fellowship (MRC/Kennedy Trust)
Dr. Scerif's research is currently supported by active fellowship funding that includes dedicated research time, laboratory resources, and professional development components. While her primary role is research-focused within the Centre for Bone and Joint Health, she participates in the institute's collaborative environment through data seminars, cross-center projects, and clinical consultation with orthopedic specialists.
Her institutional home provides access to state-of-the-art facilities including biomolecular analysis suites, tissue engineering labs, and clinical sample repositories, enabling comprehensive investigation from molecular mechanisms to translational applications in joint disease.
