Dr. Fatma Melda Patan Alper is a Lecturer in the Department of Physics at Yeditepe University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She has held academic positions at the university since 2006, progressing from Research Assistant to Doctoral Lecturer. Her educational background includes a PhD in Physics (2008-2018) exploring semiconductor nanoparticles, an MSc in Business Administration (2005-2008), and a BSc in Physics (1999-2004), all from Yeditepe University.
Her research focuses on metrology, thermometry, and semiconductor nanomaterials. Key areas include calibration methodologies, measurement uncertainty analysis, and implementation of ISO standards. She has authored/co-authored over 15 scientific books and articles, including works on infrared thermometry, quantum dot synthesis, and proficiency testing frameworks.
Dr. Patan Alper leads Yeditepe University's Metrology and Calibration Laboratory (YÜKAL) and organizes inter-laboratory comparisons. She serves on national committees such as TÜRKAK's Calibration Sector and Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) panels. Her academic contributions include teaching courses on metrology, optics, and physics fundamentals, and supervising projects in experimental physics.
Her work bridges theoretical metrology with practical applications, contributing to Turkey's metrology infrastructure through standardization efforts and laboratory accreditation initiatives.
