Dr. Fatima Terrazas-Arellanes is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Oregon's College of Education, affiliated with the Center for Equity Promotion. She holds a PhD in School Psychology (2009) and MS in Special Education (2008) from the University of Oregon, along with a BA in Psychology from Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa (2000). Her research focuses on online learning tools for students with disabilities and English Language Learners (ELLs), particularly in science education. Key projects include OSEP-funded ESCOLAR (eText supports for collaborative science learning), SSOAR (online academic reading strategies), and NSF-funded COPELLS (bilingual science collaboration between U.S. and Mexican students).
Her expertise spans literacy instruction for Spanish-speaking ELLs, assistive technology integration, and mixed-methods research. She has led numerous grants totaling over $10M, creating accessible science curricula and professional development programs for teachers. Awards include the 2012 NCSER Summer Research Institute and multiple academic honors from her alma mater in Mexico.
