Farshad Mostafaei

Farshad Mostafaei is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University. He is actively involved in medical physics research, residency training, and clinical quality assurance for advanced radiotherapy systems.

His research focuses on medical physics applications in radiation oncology, particularly in treatment planning, quality assurance for stereotactic and image-guided radiotherapy, magnetic hyperthermia as a radiosensitizer, and biomarker development for occupational metal exposure. His work bridges clinical practice and physics-based innovation in cancer therapy.

The recent publications highlight his expertise in prostate cancer treatment accuracy, dosimetric verification, and occupational health biomonitoring. His studies span both clinical evaluation and technical assessment of radiotherapy devices and protocols, particularly involving Varian TrueBeam and Elekta systems.

Dr. Mostafaei serves as Director of the Medical Physics Residency Program and Director of Research in the Department of Radiation Oncology. He leads critical quality assurance initiatives including annual and monthly QA for linear accelerators, 4D-CBCT commissioning, and patient-specific plan verification for VMAT and TOMO therapies. He is also a voting member of the Smart Advocacy (MP3ASC) committee in the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), contributing to national-level professional service.

He leads and participates in multiple institutional committees, including the Protocol Review & Monitoring Committee (PRMC) and the Medical Physics Residency Program Committee, demonstrating strong academic and administrative leadership.
