Farkhad Khudyev is an Associate Professor of Music in Orchestral Studies at the University of Texas at Austin and serves as Music Director of the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra. He holds leadership roles with the Orchestral Institute at the Hidden Valley Institute of the Arts and multiple orchestras, including the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra and Youth Music Monterey County. His academic appointments include teaching conducting and orchestral studies.
Education: Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory, Master of Music from Yale University, and early training at the State Music School in Turkmenistan and Interlochen Arts Academy.
Research and artistic interests focus on orchestral conducting, music composition, and education. Notable works include the composition The Sounds of Eternity, premiered in 2018, blending Central Asian heritage with universal themes. His conducting emphasizes dynamic interpretation, as seen in acclaimed performances of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony.
