Farida Khan

Dr. Farida Khan is a Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, within the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Bangladesh Studies and holds leadership positions in multiple professional organizations including the Bangladesh Development Initiative, Association for Social Economics, and International Association for Feminist Economics.

Dr. Khan earned her B.B.A in Economics from Georgia College and State University, M.S in Economic Policy and Planning from Northeastern University, and PhD in Economics from University of Maryland.

Her research focuses on International Trade Policy, Numerical General Equilibrium Models, and Economic Development in South Asia, with particular emphasis on Bangladesh. She has extensively studied gender economics, micro-credit systems, environmental issues related to indigenous peoples, and US economic policy. Dr. Khan's work bridges theoretical economic frameworks with practical development challenges, particularly examining how economic policies impact vulnerable populations.

Dr. Khan's publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly productivity with recent works in 2022-2023 covering Bangladesh's economy, garment worker wellbeing during the pandemic, and gender issues in the informal sector. Her research spans academic journals, book chapters, and reference works, showing both depth in specialized topics and breadth across economic subfields.
