Adil Khan is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland's School of Social Science with over 35 years of international development experience. His expertise spans public policy, pro-poor development, and participatory governance. Professor Khan previously served as Chief of Socio-Economic Governance at the United Nations and has consulted for major international organizations including the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
His research focuses on governance reform, climate change adaptation, anti-corruption strategies, and sustainable development in Global South contexts. Recent work examines microfinance impacts on marginalized communities and urban governance challenges in Bangladesh.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on governance challenges, with recent work emphasizing disability inclusion (2024), urban accountability (2021), and anti-corruption frameworks (2020). Earlier scholarship established foundations in climate vulnerability assessments and critique of neoliberal development models.
