Farid Dailami is an Associate Professor for Knowledge Exchange in Manufacturing at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), within the Faculty of Engineering, Design and Mathematics. His career spans academic roles, EU-funded research leadership, and industry collaboration. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Salford University and an MSc in Information Technology for Manufacture from Warwick University.
His research focuses on Robotics, Automation, and Manufacturing, with notable contributions to projects like InFACT (robotic assembly automation), ALASCA (flexible assembly systems), and the Robotic Innovation Facility (RIF). He has led over nine Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) projects, with one获评 'Outstanding' by Innovate UK. His work includes developing co-botic cells for Rolls Royce and advancing nuclear fuel pellet handling systems.
He has supervised eight PhD students and currently leads UWE's involvement in TERRINet, a pan-European robotics training program. Awards include an 'Excellent' ranking for the ECHORD++ program from the European Commission. He teaches modules like Electromechanical Systems Integration and has collaborated internationally, including establishing the Centre for Mechatronics in Croatia.
Recent projects include a £220k EPSRC/ATI-funded collaboration with Rolls Royce and leadership in the SABRE program to support SMEs in adopting robotics. He is a member of the IET and actively engages in advancing engineering education and industry innovation.
