Fang Yin is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Operations and Business Analytics at the Lundquist College of Business, University of Oregon. Their research focuses on the business value of IT systems, electronic commerce strategies, and recommender systems’ impact on sales. They hold a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin (2002) and a BA from Peking University (1992).
Key research interests include optimizing e-business strategies, analyzing algorithmic impacts on consumer behavior, and evaluating the effectiveness of digital tools in retail environments. Publications span journals like Journal of Management Information Systems and Review of Derivative Research, covering topics such as high-frequency financial analysis, game theory in options pricing, and comparison shopping engine design.
Teaching and advising emphasize translating complex analytical concepts into practical business solutions. Professional contributions include consultative work on recommender systems and digital transformation strategies for businesses of varying sizes.
