Fan Xia is an Associate Research Scientist in the Nicoli Lab at Yale University, focusing on neurovascular development, mitochondrial disorders, and nanotechnology applications using zebrafish models. He earned his PhD in Biochemistry from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, studying immunomodulatory effects of selenium nanoparticles. His research integrates clinical diagnostics with genetic and molecular approaches, aiming to predict and prevent cerebrovascular diseases.
Key research areas include mitochondrial genetics, metabolomics screening for rare disorders, and AI-driven diagnostic systems. He has contributed to advancements in next-generation sequencing for molecular diagnosis and developed tools like AI-MARRVEL for Mendelian disorder identification. His work bridges basic science and clinical applications, with a focus on improving diagnostic precision and understanding disease mechanisms.
Dr. Xia has received the AHA Postdoctoral Fellowship (2022) to support his research. His collaborative projects involve interdisciplinary teams addressing genetic disorders, nanotechnology, and biomedical imaging. He actively contributes to translational research through studies on optical coherence tomography angiography and sustainable nanomaterials for energy applications.
