Dr. Fakhrul Hasan is an Assistant Professor in the Accounting and Financial Management Department at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University, where he has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses since January 2023. Previously, he taught at other universities including Liverpool Hope University.
Education:
- PhD in Finance from Keele University (2019)
- BA (Hons) in Accounting from University of Hertfordshire (2012)
His research spans multiple finance domains including Behavioral Finance, Corporate Finance, Dividend Policy, FinTech, and Sustainable Finance. He investigates market reactions to financial events, climate risk impacts, and behavioral aspects of investor decision-making. Current projects explore dividend signaling, FinTech performance, and board diversity effects on firm performance.
His publications primarily focus on dividend policy dynamics, behavioral finance mechanisms, and sustainability impacts in financial markets. Recent work examines crisis responses (COVID-19, Ukraine conflict), climate risk exposure, and comparative analyses between traditional and Islamic finance systems.

He currently supervises PhD candidate Yasir Rafique researching board diversity impacts on UK firm performance. As Editor-in-Chief for Reporting and Accountability Review and Business Management and Strategy journals, he oversees academic publications in finance and management.
