Faith S. Harden is an Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Arizona. She holds affiliations with the Department of Gender and Women's Studies, the Program in Social, Cultural, and Critical Theory, and the Division for Late Medieval & Reformation Studies. Her work focuses on early modern transatlantic Spain, particularly picaresque novels, autobiographical fiction, and women's literary contributions. Recent publications include Arms and Letters: Military Life Writing in Early Modern Spain (2020) and a monographic issue on Military Lives in the Medieval and Early Modern Iberian World (2023). Current projects involve translating Estebanillo González and analyzing animal imagery in Spanish texts.
Her research emphasizes gendered representations of honor, violence, and literary self-fashioning in soldiers' memoirs. Courses taught span medieval to early modern Hispanic literature, including specialized topics like military literature, gender studies in colonial contexts, and the cultural significance of the body.
Dr. Harden's work bridges literary analysis with historical and cultural studies, often engaging interdisciplinary frameworks.
