Dr. Fadia Patterson is an Adjunct Professor at Florida A&M University's School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC), where she has taught since 2021. She holds a B.S. in International Business from Florida State University and an M.S. in Mass Communications & Electronic Media from Middle Tennessee State University. Her career spans broadcast journalism roles across multiple U.S. states, focusing on impactful storytelling, including coverage of social justice protests, Hurricane Ian, and occupational health risks for firefighters. She is a recipient of the Associated Press Award for her live hurricane coverage.
Her research and creative work include the podcast Creole Narratives, exploring Haitian, Caribbean, and Afro-Latin diaspora communities, and her blog One Woman Bandit, chronicling her multimedia journalism adventures. Active in professional organizations, she mentors emerging journalists through the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ).
Patterson’s teaching responsibilities include online sections of Intro to Mass Media. She is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
