Fabrizio Aimar is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Architecture at Texas A&M University and Director of the Center for Heritage Conservation. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Development from the Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy, and the Woodcock Endowed Professorship in Historic Preservation. Previously, he served as Lecturer and Head of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at POLIS University in Albania.
His research focuses on urban and landscape resilience, UNESCO cultural landscapes, and adaptive reuse of built heritage. Key areas include the socio-ecological resilience of cultural landscapes, governance of heritage sites, and community-driven conservation practices. He has authored monographs like The Resilience of Cultural Landscapes: Perspectives from UNESCO World Heritage Sites (2024) and edited volumes on urban green development.
Recent work explores resilience frameworks through case studies like the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces and the Langhe-Roero vineyard landscapes. His transdisciplinary approach integrates art, technology, and participatory processes in urban planning. He has advised the Italian Pavilion at Venice Biennale and serves on professional boards such as the Order of Architects in Asti, Italy.
His scholarly contributions bridge theory and practice, addressing challenges in heritage preservation, urban sustainability, and climate resilience. He actively engages in public outreach through media appearances and jury roles for architectural awards.
