Fabienne GUERARD

Fabienne GUERARD is a University Professor at the University of Western Brittany (UBO) since 2008, specializing in marine biotechnology and enzymatic engineering. Her research focuses on enzymatic hydrolysis of marine substrates for high-value active molecule production, collagen matrix development for regenerative medicine, and bioadhesion mechanisms in Pacific oyster larvae. She also investigates immune responses in marine organisms like the Manila clam infected by Vibrio species.

Her teaching contributions include leading the LMD reform for the IUP Innovation in Food Industries program, creating the VALBIOREM specialty in the Master 2 SBM, and contributing to the accreditation of the ESIAB agri-food engineering training's marine biotechnology section.

Prof. Guerard has managed major research projects such as FP6 SEAFOODplus, INTERREG-funded BIOTECMAR, and collaborates extensively with industry through Competitiveness Clusters like CapBioTeK and Technopoles in Brest/Quimper. Her work bridges academia and innovation, particularly in valorizing marine by-products and developing bioactive materials.
