معرفی
Dr Fabien Vincent is a clinician-scientist and Research Fellow at the Centre for Inflammatory Disease within Monash University’s Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. He is actively involved in rheumatology research with a focus on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), autoimmunity, and biomarker discovery. Dr Vincent accepts PhD students and contributes to teaching and public engagement.
- Current Position: Senior Research Fellow, Centre for Inflammatory Disease, Monash University
- Education: PhD in Immunology (Monash University), MSc in Immunology (Université Paris-Sud), MD in Medicine and Rheumatology (France)
- Research Focus: SLE, B cell immunology, biomarkers, Indigenous health equity
Dr Vincent's research interests lie at the intersection of clinical rheumatology and molecular immunology, with a strong emphasis on biomarker discovery in autoimmune diseases, particularly BAFF in SLE. He integrates clinical insights with data science to advance personalised medicine. A significant aspect of his work is improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples suffering from lupus, aiming to close the health disparity gap. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in health and well-being.
The most recent publications reflect a sustained focus on understanding SLE in Indigenous populations, exploring cognitive dysfunction in lupus, and reviewing emerging therapies in related autoimmune conditions like Sjögren’s syndrome. These works demonstrate a trajectory toward translational research and health equity, combining clinical observation with immunological investigation.
Scientific Awards:
- Best Basic Science Free Paper for 2018
- Certificate for Highly Cited Research in Cytokine and Growth Factor Reviews (2016)
- Selected for Best of ICB/CTI Workshop at ASI Annual Meeting (2019)
- Victorian 2021 Young Tall Poppy Science Award
Dr Vincent leads multiple research projects, including as Primary Chief Investigator on studies focused on molecular signatures in Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians with SLE. He has received competitive grants from industry partners such as Janssen-Cilag Pty Ltd. His collaborative network includes key figures in immunology and rheumatology, such as Professors Eric Morand, Joanne Harris, and Michael Hoi. He has contributed to public science communication through media features in outlets like The Conversation and has participated in community projects such as the documentary You Don’t Look Sick.
Laboratory and Research Teams:
Dr Vincent is part of the Rheumatology Group at the Centre for Inflammatory Disease, Monash Health, where he conducts translational research integrating clinical data with immunological assays. His lab focuses on B cell biology and cytokine signaling, particularly the BAFF/APRIL system, and employs multi-omics approaches to identify molecular signatures in patient cohorts.
