معرفی
Fabien Maussion is an Associate Professor at the School of Geographical Sciences, University of Bristol. He previously held a position at the Department of Atmospheric and Cryospheric Sciences (ACINN), University of Innsbruck. His research focuses on mountain climate dynamics, glacier-climate interactions, and the development of open-source tools for glaciological modeling. He leads projects like the Open Global Glacier Model (OGGM) and contributes to IPCC assessments.
- Education:
- Baccalaureate (2002)
- Master's in Aerospace Engineering (SUPAÉRO, 2006)
- PhD in Climatology (Technische Universität Berlin, 2014)
Research interests include Tibetan Plateau dynamics, Tropical Andes hydrology, and the application of machine learning to glacier modeling. His work emphasizes open science practices and educational outreach through platforms like OGGM-Edu.
Key publications focus on glacier mass balance, ice thickness estimation, and climate change impacts. His work has been recognized with awards such as the Wilhelm-Lauer-Preis 2014.
- Grants/Advising:
- PROVIDE Project (H2020, 2021–2024)
- AgroClim Project (ÖAW, 2019–2022)
- Supervised over 20 graduate students in glaciology and climate science
Maussion co-directs the Bristol Glaciology Centre and teaches courses in climate dynamics and scientific programming.
