Fabien Godeferd

Fabien Godeferd is a CNRS Research Director at École Centrale de Lyon, leading the Turbulence & Instabilities research team (2006-2015). He has held leadership roles including Head of the Henri Bénard Center and Scientific Manager of the PMCS2I computing center. His current projects focus on turbulence-wave interactions and anisotropic turbulence modeling, funded by ANR and Labex iMUST.

• Research Themes: Phenomenology of anisotropic turbulence, inertial/internal gravity waves, MHD couplings, hydrodynamic instabilities, variable density flows
• Methods: Direct numerical simulations (DNS), linearized theories, spectral/modal analysis, quasi-normal closure models
• Applications: Geophysical/atmospheric/ocean dynamics, astrophysical accretion disks, industrial turbomachinery

Doctoral Advisees: Donato Vallefuoco, Aleksandr Eremin, Ying Zhu, Jérôme Jansen, Henri Lam, Muhammad Zubair Seikh, and Andrea Maffioli (post-doctoral).

Collaborations include institutions like the Physics Laboratory of École Normale Supérieure de Lyon and partnerships with INSA Lyon, Université de Lyon, and CNRS.
