Fabiana Turelli

Dr. Fabiana Turelli is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management at the University of Manitoba. Her research focuses on critical theory, feminism, and sociology of sport, with an emphasis on intersectionality and transformative methodologies. She advocates for holistic empowerment through martial arts and combat sports (MACS), particularly for marginalized groups such as women and minorities.

She has studied karate in the Olympic context, hazing in Brazilian martial arts, and activist pedagogies in teacher education.
