Fabian Bleitner is a Research Fellow at McMaster University's Department of Mathematics and Statistics, affiliated with the research group of Dr. Bartosz Protas. Previously, he completed his PhD (2020–2024) at the University of Hamburg under Professors Camilla Nobili and Ingenuin Gasser, as part of the Research Training Group 2583 on fluid dynamics modeling. His academic journey includes a Master's (2018–2020) and Bachelor's (2012–2017) in Mathematics from Hamburg and Würzburg universities, respectively.
His research focuses on fluid dynamics, employing mathematical and computational methods to study phenomena such as Rayleigh-Bénard convection, buoyancy-driven systems, and singularity formation in Navier-Stokes and Euler equations. Recent work emphasizes scaling laws for convection systems and long-time behavior of thermally non-diffusive Boussinesq equations with Navier-slip boundary conditions.
Bleitner has presented at conferences including the Congress of Differential Equations and Applications in Spain (2024) and the Workshop on Modeling, Simulation & Optimization of Fluid Dynamic Applications in Germany (2023). He has taught courses like 'Introduction to Analysis' (McMaster, 2025) and 'Calculus for Engineers' (Hamburg, 2023).
