Eyal Oren

Eyal Oren is Professor and Director of the School of Public Health at San Diego State University. He leads the Prevention Research Center and specializes in social epidemiology, respiratory health, and infectious disease disparities.

Research examines how social, environmental, and spatial factors influence respiratory diseases, COVID-19 outcomes, and health disparities. Community-engaged approaches focus on vulnerable populations globally and in the US.

Recent publications demonstrate strong emphasis on respiratory health (asthma, COVID-19, lung function), tobacco exposure assessment, and implementation science for public health interventions. Work frequently incorporates novel exposure assessment methods and spatial epidemiological approaches.

Directs multiple NIH-funded projects including a $5M COVID-19 testing initiative addressing health disparities. Research collaborations span global health contexts with emphasis on practical public health solutions.

Teaches epidemiological methods and mentors graduate students in the joint SDSU/UCSD doctoral program in public health.
