Ewen Butler, Ph.D., serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of Divinity, Regent University. He is a Renewal historian, Canadian pastor, and holds a Ph.D. in Pentecostal and Charismatic history alongside advanced degrees in theological studies and pastoral ministry. His roles include lead pastor at Church on the Hill (Cobourg, Ontario), presbyter, hospital chaplain, and leader in community initiatives addressing housing for lower-income families and refugee support.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Pentecostal and Charismatic history, M.Div. in Pastoral Ministry, M.A. in Theological Studies, and undergraduate degrees in arts and teacher education. His research focuses on Pentecostal/Charismatic origins, Christian education (church/higher education), pastoral theology, preaching, and ethics. He has authored a major scholarly book and contributes to denominational journals and academic book reviews. Current projects include collaborative work on Pentecostalism and education.
Publications include his 2018 book, which synthesizes historical and theological perspectives. His work bridges academic scholarship with practical ministry, reflecting his background in classical Pentecostal education and community engagement.
